Job Description

Big Elk Creek Camp is an unforgettable wilderness experience in the scenic mountains of Idaho, and at its heart is the Camp Cook, fueling adventures with delicious meals. We are looking for a skilled, organized, and creative cook to prepare three daily meals for up to 80 campers and staff. This role includes menu planning, cooking, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with Idaho District 7 health standards. You will work closely with maintenance and counselor staff to create a fun, safe environment and participate in camp activities like skits and games.

What You’ll Be Doing: As the Head Camp Cook, you'll manage the kitchen, plan menus, prep ingredients, and supervise a small team of kitchen assistants. You'll prepare meals for off-site adventures and serve meals to campers with care. From pancakes at dawn to grilling burgers by the firepit, you’ll help make camp magical.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Experience cooking for large groups or a passion for cooking
  • Ability to work in a rustic camp environment with limited resources
  • Comfortable lifting 50 lbs and being on your feet all day
  • Knowledge of Public Health Code guidelines
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and love for kids and camp
