POSITION TITLE:

 

Packaging and Innovation Engineers

 

WORKSITE:

 

Idaho Falls, ID

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

Drive the ideation, design, development, testing, and implementation of packaging solutions for a range of consumer and industrial products.


Manage the packaging development lifecycle end-to-end from concept through production ensuring designs align with Brand goals, Consumer expectations, Quality standards, Global Regulatory compliance, and cost-efficiency targets.


Leverage a variety of tools and techniques including SolidWorks, CAD, TOPS, 3D printing, SmartSheets, Workfront, and MS Office.


Standardize packaging integrity and performance processes in compliance with ISTA and ASTM guidelines. Prepare and review of technical packaging specifications and documentation.


Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Supply Chain, Marketing, Quality, and Manufacturing to provide recommendations.


Establish and own relationships with external vendors to expand packaging capabilities, explore alternatives and drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, and sustainability.


Research and adopt emerging packaging technologies, leveraging market trends to enhance offerings.


Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist with packaging validation and testing in accordance with company and industry standards.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related packaging engineering role.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in one of the aforementioned fields and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a related packaging engineering role.


Special Requirements:


Applicants must have demonstrable history, knowledge, experience, or proficiency with:

  • 3D CAD design software (e.g., SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD)

  • ISTA/ASTM packaging testing standards and CRC testing

  • Palletization software tools (e.g., CAPE, TOPS)

  • Prototyping technologies, including 3D printing and FEA

  • Packaging materials such as plastics, flexible films, corrugated fiberboard, molded fiber, and biodegradable polymers

  • Packaging machinery and automation systems (e.g. Filling, Sealing, Capping, and Labeling Equipment, Injection Molding Machines, and High-Speed Automated Packaging Lines)

  • Strong knowledge of new age packaging technologies and concepts (e.g. Barrier Coatings, Accessible packaging, Tamper-proof, Biodegradable polymers, rapid prototyping, and eco-design software)
